Young entrepreneurs can pioneer innovation

He pointed out that the government was committed to strengthening the economy's competency in research and development, as well as technology and innovation.

Young entrepreneurs with their knowledge and inquisitive nature, and their ability to keep abreast with the latest information and technological applications, would be better positioned to adopt and adapt to innovations, he said.

According to The Star, the deputy prime minister said innovation should not be limited to mere business operations, as practical and adaptable innovative business models and solutions needed to be adopted and practised as well.

He added that innovative and creative small and medium enterprises (SMEs) development was a key element in transforming Malaysian economic structure towards becoming a high-income nation.

He concluded that the Malaysian SME Masterplan (2011 to 2020), which was being finalised, would accelerate the growth of SMEs through productivity gains and innovation to bring them to the next level of development.
