Two South African students were placed within the top three of two technology competitions, beating thousands from around the world.
The Adobe Certified Associate World Championship and Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship were both hosted by Certiport in Dallas, US.
Tiffany Onderstall, a student at Inscape Education Group, was placed second in the 2015 Adobe Certified Associate World Championship, after Taiwanese student, Li-Hsin Hsu.
The annual competition requires students to showcase digital communications skills by designing a banner for a 'client'.
This year, Room to Read, a non-profit organisation aimed at literacy improvement in the developing world, acted as the client. Onderstall says she was inspired by the fact that the organisation does work in South Africa.
Over 88 000 people from 17 countries entered the competition.
Samantha Knupp, an Elkanah House High School student, was placed third in the 2015 Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship. She competed against 600 000 other students from 47 countries.
Competition entrants were required to demonstrate their mastery of Microsoft Office products.
Both students were sponsored by NetLearn of South Africa. The first, second and third place winners in both competitions were awarded scholarship money of $5 000, $2 500 and $1 000 respectively.
