YouTube is being increasingly used in an innovative and emergent way, especially with regards to e-learning and alternative training, says Onrec.com.

A man called Jeong-Hyun Lim, or "FunTwo" has scored 7 million views on his video since uploading it a year ago.

The video takes an arrangement of Pachelbel`s Canon in D and really pushes it to the limit. Since then, many other young guitarists have tried to emulate him and have uploaded their own versions as well.

Combining virtual classroom with virtual labs

Surgient Labs and OutlookSoft University are joining forces to co-present a case study explaining the benefits of combining a virtual classroom with virtual labs to provide a complete solution for hands-on training online, explains PR Newswire.

The case study will be presented at the Saba-Centra Summit 2006 in Boston together with live demonstrations of Surgient`s Virtual Training Lab Management System.

The partnership enables access to virtual labs for students and participants in the Centra-powered live e-learning and collaboration environment.

Fire safety though e-Learning

New fire safety rules will come into effect at the beginning of October in England and Wales, and e-learning is being suggested as a means to bring all staff up to speed, according to a press release.

Employers and persons in charge of premises will now be expected to carry out a fire assessment and ensure the safety of all those who may be affected by the of fire. They must also provide information and training in fire precautions and emergency arrangements.

Praxis42 has released an e-learning course in Fire Safety at Work that has been developed in conjunction with its team of fire experts and external professional bodies to ensure it exactly matches the requirements of the new law.

Samsung chooses Chalk

A release on Newswire says Samsung Canada has chosen Chalk`s chalkboard Learning Content Management System to host its channel partner communications portal theSamsungWay.ca.

Samsung is training employees at over 2 500 retail outlets on theSamsungWay.ca.

Through a library of interactive courses - including product knowledge, sales strategies and scenarios, as well as an incentive programme, the training portal serves to develop sales channel partners quickly and consistently.

eOrigen.com could be most innovative

eOrigen.com has been short listed as a finalist in the e-learning awards category for the most innovative application of learning technology, according to a press release.

eOrigen has been selected for its work in developing, producing and delivering continuing innovative e-learning solutions for the NHS in collaboration with the North West Strategic Health Authority.

Now in its second year, the primary objective of the e-learning awards is to recognise excellence in the e-learning industry.
