Local distributor Rectron has announced that Logitech`s long awaited Z-Series speakers, which bring home theatre surround sound quality to multiple platforms, such as PCs, video game consoles, DVD players and portable audio players, are now in South African stores.
The flagship model is the Z-680, which is equipped with Dolby Digital and DTS hardware decoding for true 5.1 digital sound.
Fully THX-certified, the Z-680`s features include 450 watts of RMS power and an eight-inch, long throw subwoofer driver with a flared bass port.
Leveraging the same driver design found in its predecessor (the Z-560), the Z-680 adds a larger subwoofer, a bigger amplifier, and a Dolby Digital/ProLogic II/DTS decoder.
Other features are:
. Dolby Pro Logic II for creating realistic 5.1 surround sound from stereo music, movies and games.
. Digital optical and coaxial inputs, as well as six channel analogue inputs, for simple connection to nearly any audio device.
. Digital SoundTouch Control Centre with a wireless remote, for easy adjustment of the speaker controls from anywhere in the room.
Rectron product manager, Rui Pereira says the Z-680 complements the other speaker in the Z-Series - the Z-640 - which provides over 50 watts of RMS surround sound power, and includes adapters for instant connectivity to game consoles, TVs, DVD and CD players.
Both the Z-680 and Z-640 speaker system satellites feature innovative stands that rotate for either desk or wall mounting. The Z-680 includes removable grill covers that can be detached to create the more aggressive, "audio-tech" look of the aluminium phase plug drivers.
They use home stereo style connectors and standard gauge speaker wire.
