Alcatel awarded US$265 million contract to develop international connectivity to Africa
Alcatel says it has been chosen as sole supplier of the Telkom undersea cabling project, SAT-3/WASC, in a contract worth $265 million.
The company will also supply an integrated network management solution between the network and SAFE, a Telkom cabling project to the Far East.
SAT-3/WASC will comprise of an express route between SA, Ghana, the Ivory Coast, Senegal and Portugal as well as a number of other African countries. The network is scheduled for completion in early 2001.
