Authlogics, a multi-factor authentication company, has appointed AxizWorkgroup as its first local distributor to deliver authentication solutions to resellers in Africa.

Authlogics, which provides an alternative to traditional authentication and transaction verification methods, was acquired by Curve Group in June 2016.

The company introduced the concept of one-and-a-half factor sign-on and takes advantage of the latest smartphone technology to replace hard-tokens with soft-tokens.

"We believe that moving away from password-based authentication is inevitable and we look forward to driving the adoption of a new generation of solutions among businesses in Africa with AxizWorkgroup," says Steven Hope, CEO of Authlogics.

Authlogics' authentication solutions are language independent, which make them particularly valuable for African businesses that serve multiple language customers, explains Hope.

"We are excited to offer Authlogics to our reseller base and are ready to drive implementation of this next generation authentication technology," says Alessandro Postiglioni, business unit manager - security at AxizWorkgroup.

As an Authlogics Gold Partner, AxizWorkgroup offers resellers account and project management, specialised security skills, national logistics and delivery infrastructure, continues Postiglioni.

The Authlogics Partner Programme includes independent software vendors, original equipment manufacturers, system integrators and distributors who offer Authlogics authentication solutions, he says.

"Our vision is to replace passwords and offer new solutions to our customers to increase employee productivity, save time and secure critical company applications, devices and data iIn an African context, says Hope.

"We are looking to solve authentication challenges of clients and particularly those with an online presence, such as online retailers, cloud service providers and managed services."

The Authlogics solutions reduce the reliance on passwords, relieve pressure on the helpdesk for password resets, ensure regulatory compliance, mitigate risk and improve customer experience with simple, memorable and secure login, he adds.

"Our team is geared to drive adoption of Authlogics through the reseller channel and we look forward to taking this innovative solution to the African market," says Postiglioni.

"The threat of data theft is not going to diminish, notes Hope. The list of organisations that have fallen foul to data breaches is growing by the day and companies cannot wait until it reaches critical mass, says Hope in a blog.

He adds threats to companies are multi-faceted and what is more, industry regulators and governments are only going to get tougher and tougher on organisations that do not take the right steps to safeguard against attacks and data breaches.

When running an authentication system, it should never be a trade-off between enhanced security, the user experience and productivity, he concludes.
