Prolabs, the world's leader of compatible transceivers, has reaffirmed its commitment to the local channel at an exclusive reseller event, held at the Palazzo Hotel, last week.
"The event was a great success," comments Gail Holt, MD of official Prolabs distributor, Hardware.com. "The advantages of Prolabs' broad range of data centre accessories, including transceivers and DAC/AOCs, were clearly communicated to our ISP and infrastructure clients."
Prolabs products are compatible with over 56 switch vendors and 20 000 systems. The company supplies a wider range of solutions than each individual equipment manufacturer supports. Prolabs is an innovative vendor and has a lot of industry firsts. They are the only vendor that currently offers a 10GB copper transceiver, which assists in reducing the total cost of ownership in the data centre.
Prolabs is also the first vendor to offer multi-coded transceivers - a single unit that supports multiple vendors, ie, Cisco, Juniper and Avaya is one available option. Its extensive range of X2, GBIC and Xenpak offers support for legacy equipment, ports and vendors. Prolabs' range of AOC and DAC cables offers complete flexibility in that each end can be coded independently to support interoperability of multiple vendors.
"There 40G breakout cable can be coded with a certain vendor on one end, and 'breakout' into four 10GB cables coded with another vendor at the opposite end. No other company can offer this." Holt continues: "Prolabs believes that organisations should be free to choose technology solutions that are the best fit for their business, without paying inflated prices. They provide fibre and data centre providers freedom from proprietary connectivity."
