Social media transforms SA businesses

Progressive organisations have recognised the value of being social across the entire business. There are huge benefits to customer relationships, customer service, employee engagement and recruitment - social businesses embrace social technologies in every part of the organisation.

According to Michal Wronski, business development manager at the Ornico Group, social business represents a fundamental change in thinking about a company.

"Individuals become far more empowered through this system, and when effectively used, social business results in a more efficient workplace through frictionless collaboration, greater agility and innovation, improved productivity and a greater sense of camaraderie among team members."

Social media is being used in smart, inventive ways to transform businesses in SA, Wronski says. "The use of social media as a CRM tool for businesses has increased dramatically, especially with smaller businesses beginning to use Twitter and LinkedIn to communicate with their customers.

"Social media sentiment can be used to drive business strategy and product innovation, serving as a far more fundamental piece of the business puzzle than just a communications function," says Wronski. "Instagram is the social network star of the year, with triple-digit user growth in the last year, as well as engagement on brand content that is an order of magnitude higher than that of the other networks."

At the ITWeb Social Business Summit 2015, Wronski will present on the state of social media and social business in SA, and showcase comprehensive findings from the annual social media landscape report.

Join Wronski, along with social media guru Neal Schaffer and other industry experts for controversial conversations and engaging roundtable discussions. The summit will take place on 15 October, at Summer Place, in Hyde Park.
