Hyland continues to see a growing demand by organisations for enterprise content management (ECM). And it is becoming clear that ECM is moving away from being a little known software solution, and into a strategic and in-demand knowledge solution organisations want to take advantage of.

No doubt, the topic is still a complex one, though Hyland believes it can be explained in a simple way. And we know engaging with ECM vendors can be a challenging task. That's where research tools like the Magic Quadrant* can help.

It's more than managing content

For Hyland, ECM is about more than managing content. It's about using content in a meaningful way to achieve specific goals. In fact, we are confident that the strategic use of ECM is a competitive differentiator for today's organisations. In other words, it's not enough to have an ECM solution, it's knowing how best to use it.

We also know the economy has reduced technology budgets for organisations big and small. But Hyland believes investing in ECM is the smart decision because of its ability to work in concert with other software solutions, to accurately capture, process and quickly distribute information to staff when and where they need it, and connect the content dots that allow organisations to gain the competitive advantage, better serve their constituents - or both.

We know good ECM vendors will focus on helping customers that want to automate business processes that depend on documents, content and people in order to achieve that goal. Great ECM vendors will also help organisations elevate their game by focusing on speed of deployment, getting organisations up and running faster, putting them ahead of the competition sooner and/or offering improved services to constituents faster.

To confidently move your organisation forward, you need a flexible vendor and a flexible solution. We know that. After all, every organisation is different. Some focus on the bottom line to satisfy shareholders and grow the business. For others, the bottom line means ensuring another year of providing its customer community with needed services.
