World Online introduces Pay-As-You-Use Internet access

Johannesburg, 24 Jun 2002

World Online has introduced a Pay-As-You-Use (PAYU) service that allows subscribers to access the Internet and their e-mail without paying a monthly subscription fee. Users simply dial into World Online`s 082 point of presence (POP) from anywhere in the country.

For subscribers who access the Internet via their mobile phones or for only a short period of time every month, this service costs less than the normal monthly subscription fee, as they pay only for the cost of the call.

Says Natalie Thayer, World Online portal GM: "The World Online Pay-As-You-Use service, which utilises an 082 POP on the Vodacom network, offers an affordable option for those who don`t live near a landline POP - or for those who travel around the country and want Internet and e-mail access without having to search for the telephone number to their ISP`s nearest POP."

PAYU is part of World Online Mobile, http://mobile.worldonline.co.za, a new portal integrating the World Wide Web and wireless technologies that allows customers to have mobile access to the Internet and maximise their cellphone capabilities.

Adds Thayer: "We are leveraging our Internet and cellular expertise to provide our customers with the most innovative mobile services and products in SA."

No monthly subscription or prepaid recharge voucher is required to use the service. Subscribers just dial in to World Online`s 082 POP (082 245 5777) from any location in SA. Calls are charged at local cellular rates.
