Zensar hosts Indian High Commissioner for SA at its Johannesburg office
Zensar, a leading digital solutions and technology services company that specialises in partnering with global organisations across industries on their digital transformation journey, hosted Ruchira Kamboj, Indian High Commissioner for South Africa, at its Johannesburg office.
The event was the felicitation of the South African batch of interns who are part of Zensar's Skills Development Program (SDP) in South Africa, as its commitment towards local skills development and employment creation. The ceremony was attended by Zensar leadership, the new batch of interns, the previous batch of interns and officials from the Indian High Commission.
Speaking on this momentous occasion, Sandeep Kishore, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Zensar, said: "We are honoured and delighted to welcome Ms Ruchira Kamboj at Zensar, to be a part of our celebrations today. Our associates and interns are our pride, and we are committed to bring value to our South African clients and community with our local training and employment initiatives. These bright, talented minds are the ones who will be the architects of future. We are committed to support local growth through our investment in building talent and competencies."
Kamboj commented: "It is encouraging to see Indian companies like Zensar making investments into South Africa, and are vested in training the youth of South Africa to be active contributors to the country's economy. I am delighted to see these happy, confident faces today, who are well-rounded IT professionals with the desire to succeed. I wish more milestones for the team at Zensar."
Commenting on the occasion, Harish Lala, Senior Vice-President and Head, Africa, said: "It is an honour to have Ms Kamboj and our CEO, Sandeep Kishore, here today to felicitate our interns. Zensar has been in this region since the beginning of the millennium and we are heavily invested here. Today, there is a paucity in availability of IT skilled personnel across South African businesses. Since inception, our Skills Development Program has not only trained and generated capable ICT professionals who are working with our customers to create value and business impact, but also focused on creating sustainable employment. It gives me great satisfaction to see the successful path taken by our previous interns in their IT careers, which is the real success of our programme."
This batch of interns will be trained in key streams of learning, which includes cloud computing, DevOps, and Microsoft technologies, which are the skills needed by Zensar's customers and the market today. Additionally, the selected candidates will also be trained in soft skills to make them job ready for a career in the ICT sector and projects across the country.
Zensar Skills Development Program
Zensar launched the SDP in Johannesburg in 2009 to identify and train graduate students and enable them to be inducted into the ICT sector in South Africa. Zensar South Africa's SDP is designed to make skills development viable and sustainable.
It has the advantages of optimising costs, upskilling local ICT graduates and giving local businesses access to a growing pool of high-end ICT skills to achieve their growth objectives. This programme involves having a batch of approximately 30 graduates per quarter for a training programme of one year. They emerge from the programme significantly more employable.
Zensar SA has also collaborated with Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) to improve industry readiness of TUT's students and give them an opportunity to work in an industry-like environment under expert guidance, giving them opportunity to join Zensar's SDP.
Since inception, over 400 interns have been trained through Zensar's SDP, sourced from local universities. Zensar plans to train another 500 graduates in next five years.
