Epson honours its channel achievers

Johannesburg, 20 Jun 2012

Epson South Africa recently acknowledged the achievements of its channel partners at a glittering black-tie event, hosted by former Manchester United goalkeeper Gary Bailey, at the exclusive Kyalami Castle Hotel, near Johannesburg.

The company recognised the achievements of distributors, resellers and individuals that have played a leading role in growing the Epson brand in South Africa; therefore this year's awards were divided into distributor, reseller and individual awards categories.

Leading distributor Mustek dominated the awards, collecting four company awards and one individual award from Kelvin Reynolds, Epson's general manager in South Africa. The company led the pack by taking the award for overall Best Distributor of the Year.

In addition, Mustek won in the Business Products - Dot Matrix/Laser/Scanners category, the Pro Photo Printers category, and the Business Projectors category. Shaun Battiss, Product Manager at Mustek, was recognised as the Rising Star for 2012.

Other distributors taking multiple awards included Solution Technologies, which collected awards for coming out tops in both Pro AV and Home Cinema Projectors, while Kemtek rang up the award for Best in Point of Sale Business Systems, and the company's Mark Broude was acknowledged with an individual award for Business Manager of the Year.

The Reseller of the Year award was handed to TCM for overall excellence throughout the 2011 financial year.

Reseller Audio Note was acknowledged for its success in both Pro AV Projectors, while the company's Malcolm Haefner took the “Strike It Rich Millionaire” individual award.

“The Epson Channel Partner Programme that we re-launched in April 2010 has made smaller resellers feel as much a part of the Epson family as our larger channel partners are,” said Reynolds. “Standardised benefits, rebates and trading terms mean that all of our partners compete on many more metrics than just revenue and units sold, and this means that all our partners give their best efforts to competing within the parameters of the programme.

“For the first time in the history of the Epson Channel Awards in South Africa, we chose to acknowledge a number of individuals who are great ambassadors of the Epson brand,” he continued. “While there is no doubt that the success of the winning companies must be ascribed to team efforts, there are individuals that lead by example, and we wanted to show them our appreciation.”
