Sage SA team sleeps in the ice cold rain in support of CEO SleepOut

Company and team to donate R100K to charity in the process.

Johannesburg, 12 Jun 2015

Sage Pastel Accounting head Daryl Blundell will be sleeping outside in the cold on 18 June along with a number of other South African CEOs and MDs as part of the inaugural CEO SleepOut initiative by 702 and Sun International.

But before then, some 135 Sage South Africa members spent the night of 11 June in the Sage Technology Park parking lot in support of charity - and on an evening of icy winter rain in Johannesburg.

Between them, these staff members have pledged R50 000 out of their own pockets for the Girls & Boys Town (GBT), the beneficiary of the funds raised by the CEO SleepOut. Sage Pastel Accounting is matching their contribution with a donation of the same amount, adding up to a total donation of R100 000.

Says Joanne van der Walt, Marketing Manager at Sage Pastel Accounting: "When Daryl volunteered to participate in the CEO SleepOut, we wanted to do more than merely wish him luck. So, we all arranged a sleep-out of our own and decided to make a contribution to charity.

"We are delighted by the support we received from the team, who gave generously to this initiative. It was one of the wettest and coldest winter nights yet, and lasting the night certainly put our resolve to the test. Next week is Daryl's turn, and we look forward to supporting him."
