Mawenzi Asset Managers, a member of the JSE-listed Mawenzi Resources Limited group of companies operating in the properties sector of the market, has implemented VERITAS Backup Exec for Microsoft Windows NT Server to perform backups for their NT servers and Microsoft Exchange Servers.
In November last year the company identified a need to back up its NT system and Exchange server after realising how integral a part of the company`s business the mail forms, as well as the fact that Exchange provides Internet access to its Cape Town operation. "One of the primary reasons we chose the product was its ease of operation and compatibility with Windows NT, as well as the ability to back up Exchange mail folders," says Max Lange at Max Consulting Services.
Supporting the installation is again a simplified operation according to Lange, because many of the tasks are automated and the solution sends alarms to the administrator before problems occur. "Being able to deal with potential errors is a major benefit to us, because we can proactively manage, support and maintain the system and keep our users online," says Lange.
He adds: "There is very little user-intervention minimising support requirements which means we cut down on the number of employees we need to maintain the system."
