The COVID-19 pandemic has fast-tracked South African enterprises’ digital transformation initiatives, with governance, risk and automation rising to the top of their priority lists.

This is according to Gary de Menezes, ‎Country General Manager at ‎Micro Focus South Africa, speaking ahead of the Micro Focus Realize 2020 virtual customer forum to be held in South Africa next month.

De Menezes says all indications are that the lockdown will drive lasting change for business: “The effects of COVID-19 will change how we work into the future. Over the past six months, companies have been forced to reinvent themselves, how they stay effective, how they engage with their customers and partners, and even how they work internally.”

“This reinvention will likely result in us never going back to the way we did business in the first quarter of 2020. The key challenges around this reinvention are driving faster adoption of enterprise automation of all business processes, both internally and externally, as well as a renewed focus on security,” he says.

In addition to having to adapt to the ‘new normal’, South African organisations are moving to comply with POPIA by automating and enhancing security.

These changes are driving customers to step up their conversations with Micro Focus, which fields solutions to their current transformation challenges.

Says De Menezes: "At Micro Focus Realize, we will showcase how Micro Focus is assisting customers and partners to address their top of mind challenges. Our solutions are a perfect fit and with our global footprint of customers, we are able to bring enterprise-grade, best-of-breed solutions addressing the very unique challenges facing all of us.”

Cognisant of the risk of virtual fatigue, Micro Focus has adapted its hugely popular annual customer forum into a ‘not another Zoom meeting’ event. The highly interactive three-day forum will feature presentations by leading customers and partners such as Vodacom, Pick n Pay, Sanlam, Woolworths, Tech Mahindra, Microsoft, Accenture and Zensar Technologies.

In the interactive exhibition hall, delegates will be able to network and engage in one-on-one conversations with partners via video conferencing or in typed discussions, or they will be able to leave questions to be answered later.

“This virtual event highlights how technology can support the best of both worlds – now delegates can engage on the latest solutions from wherever they are; and they will be able to choose between spending the whole day at the forum, networking and hearing from customers, or sitting in only on the presentations they choose,” says De Menezes.

Gary de Menezes, ‎Country General Manager at ‎Micro Focus South Africa, will address the upcoming Micro Focus Realize 2020 virtual customer forum, to be staged in partnership with ITWeb on 15, 16 and 17 September.
