SITA CEO adds resources

Johannesburg, 05 Mar 2007

Outgoing State IT Agency (SITA) CEO Mavuso Msimang has joined the board of Exxaro Resources as an independent non-executive director.

JSE-listed Exxaro Resources was formed late last year through an empowerment transaction involving Kumba Resources, Anglo American and Eyesizwe Mining. It has interests in coal, mineral sands, base metals and industrial minerals, as well as a 20% interest in separately listed Kumba Iron Ore.

Msimang, who last week announced his intention to step down from SITA, already serves as an independent non-executive director on the boards of a number of organisations, including the Greater St Lucia World Heritage Authority, Young and Rubicam and the Tiso Group.

Trevor Arran, Exxaro's executive GM of corporate affairs and investor relations, says the company will follow common corporate practice and consider which committees to appoint him to during the next board meeting.
