While the National Tender Bulletin continues to reflect caution amongt government procurement officers, the ICT sector this week builds on the favour received over the past few weeks.
Most of this week's entries comes from the State Information Technology Agency (SITA), with multiple new tenders advertised under its own name as well as that of its clients. The agency has also extended the closing date of numerous advertisements published in the run-up to the lockdown.
Following up on an earlier tender, the Universal Service and Access Agency of South Africa (USAASA) has issued two more tenders for the make up of a panel to supply what it is now specifying as 'locally produced' 32-inch integrated digital television sets. These, it says, are to be distributed on a voucher system and to indigent matriculants respectively. Its original tender remains in play with the announcement that the closing date has been extended to 26 June.
Cancellations and awards slow down this week to three a piece. Of interest is Gijima Holdings securing a foothold in the South African Revenue Service, having captured two of the organisation's contracts for IT training. The big winner however is Nexio which has been awarded a R157 million tender by SITA to provide maintenance and support of wide area network, local area network, environmental equipment and related firmware/ software to the South African Police Service.
