SA's second annual ICT channel survey, run by ITWeb and The Margin in association with Axiz, Dell Technologies and Microsoft, is now live.

Ranka Jovanovic, editorial director at ITWeb, says the survey’s aim is to unpack the challenges faced by local channel players, as well as how they are adapting to technology trends and the changing market conditions.

“SA’s channel operates in an extremely competitive and unique space. Shrinking margins, the introduction of cloud, and a lack of skills are seeing channel players rethinking their operating models and looking for new ways to capture market share, and enhance their services,” she adds.

One of the key findings of last year's survey was that the local channel was starting to shift its focus to the cloud and trying to get to grips with the new business and pricing models.

With regards to black empowerment and transformation, the survey revealed a mixed picture, with roughly a third of respondents saying they're doing their bit, while another third said it was a broader issue than the channel could deal with on its own.

In addition, digital transformation and associated trends such as mobile, analytics, IOT and the consumerisation of IT have changed the game and are forcing organisations to conduct business differently. “This survey will provide insight into all these issues, and will pinpoint which channel players are doing well, and which are lagging behind.”

ITWeb and The Margin magazine will analyse the data and compile a comprehensive research report, which will be available to all survey participants.

The key findings will be revealed at a prestigious black-tie event in September, and one lucky respondent will walk away with a Dell Inspiron laptop.
