Connection Group launches Connect

Johannesburg, 14 Jan 1999

Information technology specialist, The Connection Group, has launched South Africa`s first loyalty programme for the IT industry.

Called `Connect`, the new programme will reward customer support within the Group`s entire retail, training and solutions divisions. The free membership to Connect will offer exclusive discounts on the Group`s products and services, including technical and call out services, on-line specials, competitions, lucky draws and regular news and information updates.

Connect has initially been introduced at Incredible Connection stores and, by August 1999, will be extended to all divisions in the Connection Group, including Training Connection and Enterprise Connection.

On joining Connect, customers will receive a booklet of vouchers will offer savings of R4 500,00 across the Group`s products and services. Each time a customer makes a purchase through one of the Group`s division, they will be entitled to even further specials. Connect members will also be first to know about new products and offers from the Group.

Commenting on the decision to establish a loyalty programme across the Group, Philip Cowles, CEO of The Connection Group said: "The IT industry is increasingly becoming more customer focussed, offering the best deals and services to customers to keep them coming back. Building customer loyalty is critical if we want to continue being leaders in the IT arena. This means finding our more about our customers and their buying patterns, building a relationship with them, and assuring them of the best service."

Kay Nash, Connection Group marketing director said: "Loyalty programmes can be very successful in increasing customer loyalty, and we intend to use this tool to tailor our service and product offerings to suit customers` individual needs.

Nash explained that data will be sourced on buying patterns. If a customer is purchasing the Jump Start range for children, for example, the group can then alert them to new children`s products on the market, offer discounts, and so on.

"We are however aware that we must be able to deliver a quality offering, so we are starting with a simple `special offer approach`, and will expand this as we achieve each benchmark we have set ourselves. We are very excited about this group initiative as it allows us to integrate our offer to the market through all our divisions," concluded Nash.

Your Connect card can be obtained free of charge by visiting the website: www.connectcard.co.za, or a Connect information kiosk at Incredible Connection stores. Once you receive your Connect card, you can take advantage of the special offers right away.
