CNT UltraNet Multi-service Director hits SA

Local distributor Shoden Data Systems has released a new storage networking infrastructure platform from CNT, which says the product will usher in a new generation of storage-attached networks (SANs).

The CNT UltraNet Multi-service Director (UMD) supports SAN consolidation, tiered storage, information lifecycle management (ILM) and utility computing. These are some of the elements CNT says are essential to creating an adaptive infrastructure needed to create data centres of the future.

Fanie van Rensburg, Shoden Data Systems MD, says in addition to higher port counts and high-availability design associated with traditional directors, the UMD provides scalability in ports, a flexible upgrade path and seamless integration to a variety of network services.

He says this growth strategy makes it valuable for small and medium enterprises as well as enterprises looking to consolidate SAN islands and implement a SAN infrastructure to meet evolving needs around ILM, tiered storage and storage services.

"Given that customers require infrastructure solutions that deliver scalability, high availability, performance and increased productivity while emphasising investment protection, we anticipate that the UMD will be well received locally," concludes Van Rensburg.
