Airtel Malawi boosts Internet speeds

Airtel has launched its 3.75G mobile Internet in Malawi and Madagascar, offering faster information transfer, All Africa reports.

According to a statement released by Airtel, the launch of the 3.75G Internet is an upgrade from the current third-generation (3G) data service in the two countries.

Airtel Malawi MD Saulos Chilima said the upgrade to 3.75G would enable the company to provide the fastest data speeds in the country.

Speaking during the launch of the network infrastructure, in Blantyre, information minister Moses Kunkuyu described the upgrade as a revolution to mobile Internet users, as they will now access information on their handsets and other mobile devices even faster than before, The Malawi Democrat writes.

"Internet is proving to be a focal point of any aspect of development in the world, hence the need to make it easily accessible through such technologies that improve Internet speeds, even in Malawi," Kunkuyu said.
