A Certificate in Cyber Security is being offered as a partnership between the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), French South African Institute of Technology (F'SATI), CS Interactive Training and Boshoff Industries.

CS Interactive Training is proud to be a partner in offering this unique South African Cyber Security certificate. This certificate is offered in a blended mode by utilising its VLE-Xpress platform and e-learning framework in conjunction with facilitated sessions in Cape Town and Pretoria.

According to Prof Elmarie Biermann, South Africa is experiencing shortages in locally developed security training content, as well as shortages of skilled cyber security staff. In an effort to respond to training and development needs of security teams within industry and, at the same time, build capacity in cyber security, a specialised and focused cyber security course was developed. This is a first for the South African environment in which industry and academia co-operate to offer a unique qualification targeting the local market.

The certificate was developed and refined under the leadership and expertise of Prof Elmarie Biermann and Prof Robert van Zyl, associated with the French South African Institute of Technology (F'SATI) in Cape Town and is governed by the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. Technical content pertaining to current security threats and vulnerabilities are offered under the supervision of experts in penetration testing and vulnerability assessment from Boshoff Industries.

The Certificate in Cyber Security is the result of a long process of co-operation between industry, academia and research institutions to offer targeted training content within the cyber security domain. This effort will also stimulate research and assist to develop and maintain a culture of developing security skills to benefit industry and local communities.
