Sage 300 (Accpac) in the cloud for Big Concerts

Cape Town, 10 May 2017

Big Concerts International migrated its Sage 300 (Accpac) business management system from an on-site server to a modern Virtual Private Server (VPS) environment in support of its international growth strategy. The stability, maturity and enhanced features of Sage 300c, including its natural ability for being deployed in a virtual or cloud environment, together with its support for mobile devices, provided Big Concerts with the confidence to make this strategic decision.

Big Concerts International was founded in 1989 and has become the largest and only live entertainment company in Africa to feature on the Top 100 Worldwide Promotors List. The company was recently acquired by Live Nation Entertainment - the world's largest live entertainment company, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

Big Concerts contracted AWCape in 2011 to upgrade their business management system from Pastel to Sage 300 (then known as Accpac). Since the first installation of Sage 300, numerous enhancements were implemented including Business Process Management (BPM) with procurement workflow to Project Job Costing.

The Sage BPM system in particular had a large impact on increasing business efficiency as it runs through a browser with mobile device support. Mobile support was particularly an important requirement for Big Concerts as users are spread internationally and are constantly on the move. This means that management can receive requests for purchases and do approvals on the run, whilst out of the office, and the frequency can be accelerated tremendously while preparing for a new show.

Big Concert's recent migration from an on-site server to a Virtual Private Server (VPS) hosted by AWCape, has also enhanced user access and enabled 24 hour availability to the systems for local as well as international users. Built-in functionality include the running of two VPS devices with automatic replication of the SQL database to ensure uptime, even should the primary server fail. In addition, automatic backups are run daily with off-site storage.

Justin van Wyk, Big Concerts CEO, commented that "the renewed energy that Sage has put into modernising the well-known and dependable Sage 300 has given us the courage to venture into the cloud, whilst being supported by AWCape's capable team of engineers".

AWCape's cloud solutions are provided by a team of engineers who have a passion for research and development, together with a structured approach to support, thereby ensuring reliability and business efficiency.
