Telkom has appointed four new non-executive directors to its board, while one non-executive director has resigned.

Graham Dempster, Thembisa Dingaan, Nunu Ntshingila and Rex Tomlinson have all been appointed non-executive directors, while Clive Fynn has resigned - all with immediate effect.

A chartered accountant by profession, Dempster is CEO of Nedbank and has been an executive director of Nedbank since August 2009. He has held positions as managing executive of Nedbank corporate, MD of corporate banking, MD of the international division and head of overseas operations at the bank.

Dingaan is director of companies and is currently a member of the board of directors of the Development Bank of Southern Africa, where she has the additional responsibility of serving as a member of the audit, risk and finance committee, as well as chairman of the credit and investment committee.

She is also a member of the boards of Mustek (since February 2009), Imperial Holdings (since November 2009), Sumitomo Rubber SA (since May 2011) and Absa (since September 2013). In addition, Dingaan is a member of Absa's models committee and is a trustee of the bank's pension fund.

Ntshingila started her career as a trainee account executive at Ogilvy SA after graduating from the University of Swaziland. She spent three years at Nike as communications director and then rejoined Ogilvy in 1999. She has since held various senior executive positions within the firm, including the position of deputy MD and later MD of the Gauteng division, until she became CEO in 2005.

Ntshingila was appointed chairman of Ogilvy in 2012, a position she still holds. She has experience in marketing, strategy and advertising, and leads a diversified group comprising 14 companies specialising in advertising, brand consulting, media/channel planning, design, digital/interactive, customer relationship management, retail marketing, public relations and consumer insights. Ntshingila has served as a director on the boards of Old Mutual, the V&A Waterfront and Transnet.

Tomlinson is currently lead independent director at Tsogo Sun and also serves as chairman of three unlisted companies. He was previously human resources director of Illovo Sugar, later joining Nampak, where he held numerous executive line management roles and was a member of the Nampak board.

Tomlinson joined Liberty Holdings in 2004, was appointed deputy chief executive in 2005 and to the Liberty Holdings board in 2006, where he served until his resignation in 2010. He was until recently the lead independent director at Kelly Group.
