Old Mutual launches innovative prepaid and reward programme In Namibia, secured by Tranwall Transaction Control

By Tranwall
Wanchai, Hong Kong, 22 Aug 2014

Tranwall, in partnership with Payment Express (PEX) Mauritius, has successfully completed the implementation of Tranwall Transaction Control for the OMCARD Namibia project.

Tranwall Transaction Control enables OMCARD to empower its cardholders with the ability to secure their cards by using mobile telephony to switch their cards ON or OFF for specific transactions types, such as online shopping, in-store purchases or cash withdrawals.

OMCARD, a prepaid Visa card, is specifically designed for Old Mutual customers, providing them with a cash-back rewards programme and the ability to link up to four additional cards for their family members.

This project is unique to Namibia, with the card and self-service offering being almost completely mobile telephone-centric. For added control and convenience, the OMCARD may be turned on and off from a customer's mobile phone. Tranwall Transaction Control enables two-way communication with cardholders using USSD, SMS or the Tranwallet smartphone application. Tranwall Transaction Control keeps cardholders informed of transactions on their card and provides advanced real-time control of their card security preferences. Additionally, Tranwall Transaction Control provides second-factor authentication to secure OMCARD Internet banking.

Mr Ben Jacobs, Operations Executive at Old Mutual Namibia, said: "In launching the OMCARD, we wanted to deliver a secure, easy-to-use and innovative product that is of value to our customers. To achieve this, we knew that we needed innovative partners that would leverage the value of the ubiquitous nature of mobile technologies for OMCard, and that is why we chose PEX with the Tranwall solution. Customers are excited about managing their own card security and we believe that the ongoing value of self-service and self-secure technology from Tranwall will continue to improve the customer experience."

"Our business success has been driven by a relentless focus on rapidly delivering value and innovation to our customers. The OMCARD project is a perfect example of this, and demonstrates how Tranwall provides benefits for both the bank and the cardholder, offering unparalleled customer convenience, security, savings and peace of mind. We are proud to be helping Old Mutual with this ground breaking project," stated Mr Sailesh Sewpaul, CEO of Payment Express.

"Tranwall provides a richer and more customer-centric solution to cardholders, allowing cardholders to be part of fraud prevention by allowing them to enable and secure their cards. We are happy to be working with PEX and Old Mutual Namibia to improve cardholder security and experience in the country," added Aurelien Duarte, CEO at Tranwall.
