New CEO Tertius Vermeulen takes the reins at Trustlink

Johannesburg, 14 Mar 2012

Financial services industry veteran Tertius Vermeulen has joined the team at Trustlink as CEO as of 1 January 2012. Vermeulen takes the helm in a challenging financial environment to drive Trustlink towards future growth and sustainability.

Formerly the Managing Director of Computershare's Custodial Division, he brings a wealth of knowledge and more than three decades' of market experience to the company. With more than 20 years in the banking sector before his 11-year stint at Computershare, both as a COO and MD, along with a B.Com Honours Degree in Strategic Management, Licentiate and Associate Diplomas in Commercial Banking and an Advanced Business Management qualification, Vermeulen is more than qualified to take on the challenges his new position holds.

“Trustlink has been a service provider to Computershare since 2002, providing SWIFT Bureau services, so I was no stranger to their organisation. When the opportunity came up for me to join the company, I took it as an opportunity for positive change. I am looking forward to using my knowledge of the SWIFT service environment and my relationships with the SWIFT community, both nationally and overseas, to add value to Trustlink. I believe this, along with my background in services, will stand me in good stead for my future as CEO,” Vermeulen says.

Knowledge of the SWIFT environment is a vital component to the role, since one of Trustlink's core business lines is providing a hosted SWIFT service. However, Vermeulen does not intend for the company to remain static, and he is set to take the Trustlink business to new heights over the course of the next financial year.

“The current financial market is a challenging one, and the business environment is constantly changing. This means that, in order to remain competitive and sustainable, products too need to change to cater for changing markets and changing needs. Over the next few years, I will be focusing on using the existing strengths of the company and diversifying into different products and markets,” Vermeulen says.

“Taking Trustlink's existing experience and knowledge, we will be looking towards building a variety of new products and services on the hosted platform. By building up our offering to include additional products, we will be able to service new markets, keeping the business agile in order to remain viable and maintain our competitive edge,” he adds.

While his years of experience in financial markets, along with his business and client understanding and vast knowledge of the South African market, will be of invaluable assistance in achieving these goals, the software sales and services market is a new one to Vermeulen, and he is looking forward to the challenges that a new environment brings. He is committed to growth, but also dedicated to ensuring that Trustlink's customers continue to receive the high levels of service they have come to expect from the company.

“Trustlink is continually striving to ensure that we have the best solutions and provide the best services to enable us to make a positive impact with our customers. This vision remains true, and the growth and diversification of Trustlink will serve to enhance this mission by enabling us to deliver a broader service offering to add further value for our customers,” Vermeulen concludes.
