Fujitsu has unveiled Fujitsu DynamicFabric, a solution the company says enables the creation of flexible and optimised network infrastructures.

According to Fujitsu, DynamicFabric features three technologies that can be combined to virtualise connections and capacity, from the server edge to the core.

In a statement, the company says DynamicFabric puts IT managers in control of fully-virtualised local and storage area networks (LANs and SANs), adapting to virtual server workload demands with dual-port 10-Gigabit Ethernet adapter partitioning into up to eight channels.

It also simplifies management by allowing the addition, replacement or recovery of server blades and network-agnostic virtualisation in dynamic data centre scenarios, Fujitsu says.

It adds that Fujitsu ServerView Virtual I/O Manager (SV VIOM) simplifies the management of rack, tower and blade servers in LAN and SAN environments, and new Connection Blades for Fujitsu Primergy Blade Servers utilise the latest emerging industry standards, including Data Center Bridging as a prerequisite for Fibre Channel over Ethernet.

Jens-Peter Seick, senior VP, product development group, Fujitsu Technology Solutions, says: “Increasing business agility requires optimised utilisation of all network resources. Fujitsu DynamicFabric enables [organisations] to achieve this by provisioning their network resources efficiently to accelerate deployment and operation of workloads.”

Explaining the technical aspects, Fujitsu says the Primergy BX Ethernet Fabric Switch 10Gbps 18/6+6, an embedded version of the Brocade VDX 6730 Data Center Switch, is a 10 Gigabit Ethernet switch with both LAN and native Fibre Channel ports that provide a high degree of flexibility to support dynamic IT environments with scalability for cloud architectures.

It features Brocade's VCS Fabric technology that enables organisations to build cloud-optimised data centres while preserving existing network designs and cabling, and gaining server connections across the entire Fujitsu DynamicFabric infrastructure.

Fujitsu points out that sharing intelligence automatically between fabric nodes enables the entire fabric to be managed more efficiently, significantly reducing operational overhead. In addition to Fibre Channel storage area networks, Primergy BX Ethernet Fabric Switches enable connections to Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE), iSCSI and NAS storage.

The Primergy Ethernet FEX 10Gbps 16/8, also known as the Cisco Nexus B22F, simplifies data centre architecture and operations by extending the Cisco Unified Fabric high-performance network architecture into the Fujitsu Primergy Blade Server environment, Fujitsu explains.

Fujitsu DynamicFabric components will be generally available from August.
