The Change for Good hackathon hopes to find a unique solution for six Global Citizen campaigns.

Tech giant Amazon and digital marketing agency Huge have partnered with Global Citizen to host a two-day "Change for Good" Hackathon.

The contest is an attempt to find innovative solutions for Global Citizen's six campaigns: no poverty; food and hunger; health; education; gender equality; and clean water and sanitation.

Global Citizen is an international advocacy platform that aims to end extreme poverty in Third World countries by 2030.

The partners have invited teams from across the globe to join forces and imagine and build viable solutions to these problems.

The hackathon will be held from 19 to 20 June at the 65th Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, a festival and awards ceremony for the creative and marketing communications, entertainment, design and tech industries.

Philip Thomas, Ascential Events CEO and chairman-elect of Cannes Lions, said cross-disciplinary global teams with strong creative, strategy and technology representation are encouraged to apply to participate in the hackathon.

"Launching an initiative like this is exciting on many levels. It perfectly encapsulates the spirit of the festival, bringing together creative experts from across our industry to innovate as a positive force for good. That's the kind of creative magic that happens at Cannes Lions.

"As an investment in the future of the festival and in the next generation of leaders, each team should include at least one member under 30 in the five-person team."

Seven teams will be chosen from the entrants to compete in the hackathon, with the winners to be announced at the concert on Wednesday 20 June, adds Thomas.

Participating teams will benefit from hands-on mentorship from some of the world's most prominent industry leaders and change influencers; real-time expertise in creative, UX design and product development from Huge; and on-the-ground solution architects from Amazon Web Services and Amazon Alexa will be available to make ideas a reality.

Mark Lehmann, chief technology officer of Global Citizen, said this was an opportunity for citizens to create empathy and change using technology.

"We're deeply involved with technical transformation and innovation at Global Citizen so it is a wonderful privilege to be working with the Cannes Lions, Huge and Amazon teams on a hackathon that helps further our goals and has a positive impact on the world."

The winning team will have the chance to work with Global Citizen, Amazon Web Services, Amazon Alexa and Huge to launch and promote their solution internationally.
