SGT Solutions, formerly Saab Grintek Technologies, has partnered with Siklu, a supplier of E and V band radios and global market leader in fixed 5G millimeter wave (mmWave) wireless network equipment.

Suraj Ramlall, GM: CSI at SGT Solutions, says Siklu’s solutions are 5G-ready, `enabling glass-speed capability over the air’.

“The fibre-like speeds provided by Siklu’s technology will help meet South African customers’ bandwidth demands. By cutting lead time to market, they enable customers to realise revenue more rapidly,” he adds.

Headquartered in San Jose, California, Siklu delivers multi-gigabit wireless fibre connectivity and has presence in 45 countries, with over 80 000 mmWave units deployed worldwide, ranging from WISPs to Tier 1 network operators.

Siklu operates in the practically interference-free 60GHz-70GHz/80GHz frequency bands. This large swath of available frequency stems from the fact that there is over 24Ghz of available spectrum in these bands, coupled with extremely narrow beams, which yields almost unlimited spectrum, the company says.

SGT Solutions was born out of the Grintek Group in 1993 and has been part of the Saab South Africa group of companies since 2005, trading as Saab Grintek Technologies. It was recently acquired by African Equity Empowerment Investments (AEEI) and renamed SGT Solutions, with 74% black ownership and 39% black women ownership.

It provides specialised telecommunication solutions for network operators, infrastructure builders, utilities and governments, and supplies microwave and related services to public and private network operators in South Africa and neighbouring states.

According to Ramlall, Siklu’s technology brings scalability, multi-gigabit capacity and reliability to the world of wireless networks, enabling SGT to provide solutions that are easy and fast to deploy, and deliver predictable performance.
