Far South Networks' trifecta for business connectivity, telephony, compliance

With the rise of the COVID-19 pandemic, companies had to quickly adjust and deliver the resources and tools to support a “work from home” environment for their staff. This may have entailed a laptop with a broadband data contract, including secure access to business services such as CRM, telephony and e-mail.

Working from home comes with its own set of compliance challenges. Employers have had to review their business operations for compliance. In this regard, businesses are required to ensure their business call recordings support local and global compliance standards, such as POPIA, HIPAA, FICA, FAIS, GDPR and others.

In particular, the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), South Africa’s data protection law, came into effect on the 1 July 2020. The POPIA Act will come into force on 1 July 2021, whereafter a non-compliant organisation may face up to a 10-year jail term or a R10 million fine.
