Itec solution helps Association of Child Care Workers improve efficiencies

Johannesburg, 05 Aug 2010

The National Association of Child Care Workers (NACCW) reports that it has achieved significant cost-savings since it appointed Itec as its printing and copying supplier and service provider.

The non-profit organisation works to promote the best standards of care for vulnerable children, especially those that have been orphaned or abandoned. It does so by working closely with the child and youth care workers who interact directly with them.

NACCW has a massive printing and copying requirement - the largest machine at its head office alone prints 300 000 pages each month. The organisation wanted to find ways of improving productivity and lowering costs in its print environment.

NACCW started out by ordering one multifunction product (MFP) unit from Itec and soon embraced Itec as its partner of choice because of its solutions-led approach to the document output environment, says Sandra Oosthuizen, operations and skills development manager at NACCW.

Says Oosthuizen: “Itec came to us with a comprehensive office solution rather than merely trying to sell us hardware and a support contract. The Itec sales consultant and his team worked closely with NACCW to analyse the needs of our offices and identify opportunities for cost-savings.”

Itec looked closely at NACCW's needs in terms of printing, copying, imaging and faxing before it proposed a solution. Through its analysis, Itec was able to advise NACCW of the best locations for its shared MFPs and of opportunities to consolidate its infrastructure.

The analysis identified R11 000 per year in cost savings for NACCW. It also created opportunities for the association to improve productivity in its offices by giving workers tools that are optimised to meet their needs, says Oosthuizen. The organisation has also experienced benefits around scanning documents.

NACCW today has a total of 20 Itec machines spread across its offices nationwide. Oosthuizen points out that many of NACCW's offices are located in remote areas, which meant that it needed a partner with a national footprint. Itec's service levels in remote branches have been consistent throughout the years it has worked with NACCW, she adds.

Says Ken Addison, account manager at Itec: “The printing and copying market is no longer just about the hardware or the customer support - it's also about providing companies with business solutions that help them to improve productivity and reduce costs.

“Customers such as NACCW understand that printing is an expense that needs to be managed with as much discipline as telecoms and information technology, and look for partners who can help them get the best results at the lowest costs.”
