StorTech, a Johannesburg-based storage and data centre company, this week rebranded as Nexio, and said it is expanding its portfolio of services.

StorTech (Storage Technology Services) was founded 19 years ago as part of the MB Technologies Group.

Vodacom acquired 51% of the company in 2008, following the launch of Vodacom Business and its plans to provide systems integration solutions to enterprise organisations.

In 2017, StorTech achieved level one BBBEE rating, with a black shareholding of more than 50%, and black female ownership of over 30%.

CEO Chris Volschenk says the company will now offer a range of new services, such as security, multi-cloud adoption, workforce transformation and big data analytics, and it thought a new name would more accurately reflect its expanded offering.

It has also launched a digital platform, which it says provides organisations with increased visibility over its systems and processes.

Speaking at the launch yesterday, Volschenk said he and his management team had been preparing for the launch of the rebranded company for the last three years.

He also said it had been building its new platform for the last two-and-a-half years, and this, he believes, is going to differentiate the company.

"It's a combination of technologies, and we've created something that's pioneering. Everyone speaks about automation, agility, visibility, security and client experience. We've got an integrated platform that will put all those things together."
