Integr8 IT becomes IT `bouncer` for clients

National network integration specialist Integr8 IT has reinforced its service offering by adding managed security services to its Managed Services offering. This is complementary to the service level agreements (SLA). The company integrated this service offering as a result of the increase in demand and potential business threats that exist in the market.

"Network security is still a fundamental consideration for companies. The protection of your company`s data and disaster recovery policies remain priorities and with the level of sophistication that is being incorporated into viruses, comprehensive security has become non-negotiable. We have always incorporated a level of security-related services into our SLA but the time has come to spin this off into a specialised business unit as part of our managed services. We essentially fulfil the role of network security partners as an extension of our core focus of network infrastructure management and integration," explains Lance Fanaroff, joint-MD at Integr8 IT.

Solution and product vending is prevalent within the security market, so much so that companies are having to adopt exceptionally high levels of discretion to ensure a return. According to Fanaroff, Integr8 IT is not entering into a new market and is not abdicating from its function as its clients` "IT arm".

"We believe the real value lies in the relationship by incorporating service and product into a business by meeting its specific business requirements. Too many businesses have been burnt by people flogging products that are meant to deliver. It just doesn`t work that way and we do not advocate simply `dropping a product` and guaranteeing a difference. Security is a matter of people, processes and technology - and it should not be complicated by mere product or solution sales. The network represents the heart of a company`s infrastructure and IT strategies have to reflect this," adds Fanaroff.

The company`s managed security strategy fits in comfortably with its overall service level that stipulates a guaranteed turnaround time and proactive rather than reactive service. The idea is to ensure a fully protected set-up through the incorporation of correct technology and strategic alignment of people and infrastructure.
