"South African businesses need to get positive about education and commit themselves to playing their role in educating South Africa's children; the onus cannot lie only on the state."
This was the message from Anton Jacobsz, CEO at Networks Unlimited Africa, commenting after the company's recent fifth annual corporate charity golf day, where the two beneficiaries of the event were once again based in the education space, namely: The Love Trust and Literacy for Life.
Networks Unlimited Africa, a leading value-added distributor within the sub-Saharan Africa market, has long been a supporter of education, both via its keenly anticipated golf event, as well as via the company's internal structures.
The Love Trust, founded in 2009, is a South African non-profit educational organisation, which has to date reached over 9 000 primary and secondary beneficiaries in disadvantaged communities. It is also the 53% broad-based black economic empowerment (B-BBEE) partner of Networks Unlimited Africa, in a partnership arrangement that allows Networks Unlimited Africa to support its outreach efforts to change the lives of vulnerable children through real practical and educational support.
Literacy for Life is a non-profit company that was established in November 2014 to help cash-strapped South African schools achieve literacy and communication skills. Funding for government schools remains a challenge and funding in under-privileged schools even more so. In many instances, teachers are taking it on themselves to spend their own money on aids or tools to assist children to be able to learn to read or write, or experience the opportunity to express themselves through art.
Sponsors of the Networks Unlimited Africa 2019 corporate charity golf day included business partners such as Attivo Networks, Barnard Inc Attorneys, Cofense, Corporate Traveller, datasciences corporation, EOH, F5 Networks, Fortinet, icomm intelligent communications, Leopardsong Manor, Landynamix, Mellanox, NETSCOUT Arbor, ProLabs, Rubrik, R"ohlig-Grindrod, Tintri by DDN, VNO Systems, NEC/XON, 1.618 Financial Services.
"On behalf of Networks Unlimited team, we thank our generous sponsors for their contribution that will benefit the two organisations, Love Trust and Literacy for life. With the money raised from all the sponsors, we will help nurture future generations of leaders through the delivery of excellent Christian education to vulnerable children in disadvantaged communities, focus on early childhood development and offer support to preschools and creches in communities of need," concluded Jacobsz.
