Nomad increases footprint to Zimbabwe, Kenya

Johannesburg, 14 Jan 2004

Electronic funds transfer specialist Nomad Information Systems has secured contracts in Zimbabwe and Kenya for its bank card and third-party transaction processing solution.

Part of the Johannesburg-based Barone, Budge & Dominick group, Nomad has formed a relationship with Kenya Commerical Bank and Uchumi, one of that country`s largest retailers. In Zimbabwe, its partners are Central African Building Society and retailer O K Zimbabwe.

"We have integrated our system with the banks and retailers in Zimbabwe and Kenya so that card transactions and third-party services, eg, online prepaid products, can now be processed at the retail tills," said Tony Reddy, a Nomad director.

There are plans to introduce Nomad`s systems into some other African countries in 2004.

Nomad is one of SA`s leading EFT technology providers and has ongoing relationships with a wide range of banks, retailers and service providers.
