Information technology service management specialist Quintica continues to develop its South African market reach with the announcement of a new reseller relationship with Sizwe Africa IT Group.
In terms of the deal, listed empowerment company Sizwe is appointed as a service provider and reseller for the WebINTELLECT COR IT Asset Management (COR ITAM) solution set.
Dan van der Westhuizen, Director at Quintica, says as a focused managed services provider active in the public and private sectors, the relationship is a substantial boost for the COR ITAM solution. “Decision-makers in government departments and private companies alike are recognising the necessity of taking control of their IT and other assets with appropriate software solutions. COR ITAM provides for the management of the complete environment to ensure compliance and accurate licensing of software, as well as tracking IT hardware and its use through the organisation.”
Developed in South Africa, COR ITAM provides for the establishment and population of a configuration management database. It handles the full life cycle of IT hardware and software assets, from procurement to disposal, including IT and financial perspectives of each asset. ITAM also embodies governance principles and procedures in accordance with regulations such as Basel II, ISO and Sarbanes-Oxley.
Notably, Van der Westhuizen says COR ITAM can be offered on a software as a service (SaaS) basis. “That makes it a key fit for Sizwe's recently launched managed services division; it is able to provide its customers with pay-per-use, services-based access to the solution,” he says.
Tim Modise, Sizwe chairman, says with the launch of its Managed Services Division, Sizwe Africa has sought out best-of-breed products to improve service delivery and create efficiencies for its clients. “Satisfied that it delivers accurate and simple, yet detailed reports, we have selected COR ITAM to underpin our IT asset management service,” he says.
With the economy under pressure, Modise believes the relevance of asset life cycle management is brought to the fore. “In today's environment, companies are under pressure to manage and control costs very closely, while regulatory compliance is an ever-present requirement. Where most management products call for substantial capital investment, COR ITAM delivered on the SaaS basis delivers the required management information while incurring an affordable operational expense,” he says.
This, Modise believes, is a critical advantage, which will drive the success of the solution in government and private business. “Delivered as a service, COR ITAM is affordable. It is also ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) aligned, which means clients can use the solution with the confidence that it encapsulates best-of-breed processes,” he adds.
Furthermore, Modise says COR ITAM integrates directly with the financial modules of popular ERP systems and provides an executive dashboard, which delivers complete information on assets across the enterprise.
Van der Westhuizen says the conclusion of the partnership with Sizwe is of strategic value to Quintica. “Sizwe is a recognised nationwide ICT provider with a substantial reach into government and industry. As a result, the relationship extends our reach to most of the South African geography. In addition, with a sound approach to ITIL and a commitment to customer centricity, Sizwe is a partner well aligned to our own approach to market.”
