Fujitsu, Fuji Xerox in Japanese venture

Fujitsu and Fuji Xerox have revealed that they will be jointly introducing a solution that will only be available in Japan, says Benzinga.

According to the companies, the solution enables the visualisation, or monitoring of the operation and power consumption of computers, as well as Fuji Xerox's multifunction devices and printers, on a network by linking the software of both companies.

This is the first attempt in the ICT industry to forge software integration to centrally control power consumption data of individual computers and output devices leveraging operational management software.

Cisco, Polycom exchange tech

Two makers of videoconferencing systems, Polycom and Cisco Systems, have exchanged technologies so their systems can talk to each other for the first time, states IT World Canada.

It's a move industry analysts say will open the doors to the interoperability of video conferencing systems, particularly for those with Cisco TelePresence systems.

Polycom is the first to tout the benefits of the deal, saying within months, it will have implanted Cisco's TelePresence Interoperability Protocol technology in its equipment.

Discovery deploys DIVAchive solution

Discovery Communications has implemented Front Porch Digital's DIVArchive content storage management solution at its Silver Spring, Maryland, post-production facility to handle archiving of all of the company's production assets, reveals B&C.

Discovery is also in the process of expanding the solutions' use and making it the common system for manipulating and moving media files around the world at the programmer's various post-production and origination operations.

"For a global operation like Discovery, DIVArchive's flexibility, scalability, and interoperability ensure its efficacy as an enterprise-wide content storage management solution," noted Mike Knaisch, president and CEO of Front Porch Digital in a statement.
