IT personality, company of the year named

Jacquie Subban, head of geographic information and policy at eThekwini Municipality, was named this year`s "IT Personality of the Year", by the Computer Society of SA (CSSA) KZN Chapter.

"This is a milestone, not only for me, but for all those who are working towards creating an infrastructure in Durban for small and medium enterprises, large business and citizens to have access to telecommunications," said Subban.

DataWorld - under the leadership of CEO Willy Govender - an emerging ICT company specialising in developing solutions for the public sector, collected the CSSA KZN Chapter "IT Company of the Year" award.

The CSSA is a professional body for ICT practitioners, with a membership of more than 3 000.

It focuses its activities, events and publications on ICT policy; education and training; professional development and assessment; community development and transformation of the ICT sector.

Jacquie Subban joins the short list of 10 IT achievers, to be announced on Tuesday 26 September, who will be competing for the national IT Personality of the Year title. The winner will be announced on 26 October.
