Facebook is testing 3D Touch capabilities within its main app for iOS users on the new iPhone 6S and 6S Plus.

Last year, Apple introduced 3D Touch when it launched the new iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. 3D Touch allows users to press lightly for a preview of whatever they are looking at, and then continue pressing if they want to open it fully. This feature is called 'Peek and Pop'.

"We are excited to start rolling out support for 3D Touch in our iOS app, so people can quickly and easily peek into a preview of anything they are interested in on Facebook, and pop into that content to see more," a Facebook spokesperson told TechCrunch.

Facebook says the feature will work with Web links, profiles, pages, groups, events, photos, profile pictures, and cover photos. Currently, Facebook iOS users can only use 3D Touch as a status post shortcut.

The new features will be tested on a small number of iOS users first, and then expand to more within the next few months.
