Trend Micro awarded 'Best Protection' by AV-TEST
Company earns highest score in consumer protection for Internet security solution.
Trend Micro (TYO: 4704; TSE: 4704), a global leader in security software, today announced its 2014 and 2015 software versions of Trend Micro Internet Security have been awarded "Best Protection" by the AV-TEST Institute, at the annual award ceremony in Dresden, Germany.
The AV-TEST Institute awards the most effective cyber security products in its different test categories. Trend Micro Internet Security won this award because of its ability to best protect against malware infections.
"Earning the best protection award from AV-TEST Institute reinforces the confidence our customers already have in their Internet protection from Trend Micro," said Gregory Anderson, country manager, Trend Micro South Africa. "Users are able to enjoy their digital lives safely, trusting that they are protected by the best vendor on the market."
According to AV-TEST, the research firm continuously evaluated 28 home-user security products throughout 2014 in six certification tests using their default settings. Focusing on realistic test scenarios, AV-TEST challenged the products against real-world threats. The products had to demonstrate their capabilities using all components and protection layers, and AV-TEST evaluated the most current publicly available version of all products during testing. The field of vendors were allowed to provide updates at any time and query their in-the-cloud services.
"For the past 12 months, we have been impressed by the superior protection Trend Micro Internet Security has demonstrated," said Andreas Marx, AV-TEST Institute CEO. "When it came down to selecting the vendor for this category, Trend Micro's consistent presence of protection made this an easier decision."
In addition to the Trend Micro Internet Security product winning "Best Protection," the Trend Micro Mobile Security product has consistently achieved certification for both malware and PUA (potentially unwanted apps) since November 2013 through January 2015.
"From desktop to mobile, our customers are protected and stay protected from the ongoing security issues plaguing their Internet journey," said Anderson. "We are providing protection against threats and privacy concerns, regardless of the device or operating system."
