Sage Alchemex expands 'Excel on Steroids' further into Africa

Johannesburg, 22 Jan 2013

With a burgeoning demand for Microsoft Excel training specific to business reporting on the continent, the Sage Alchemex training team is excited to announce it will be focusing on offering its Excel on Steroids training programme to more African countries.

For over a decade, Sage Alchemex has provided affordable, innovative and powerful business intelligence (BI) software that drives information into Microsoft Excel. The now popular 'Excel on Steroids' training workshops were developed in 2004 to provide in-depth coverage of specialised Microsoft Excel functionality for enhanced business reporting and decision-making.

The specialised Excel course satisfies a niche in the training industry in that it is not simply an advanced 'tour of functionality', but rather focuses on the powerful features and functions of Excel that are specific to effective business reporting. Growth in demand has been driven largely though credible references from delegates, such as the one from Linka Lubbe, Financial Controller at Jost Transport Equipment: "I've learned amazing new things and this will definitely improve my efficiency at the office. As an example of how this has already changed my life: I've finalised our quarterly stock take three hours earlier than normal just because I was able to work through the data so much quicker."

External stakeholder relations have also been instrumental in bolstering the growth of the brand, particularly relationships with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA), and Chambers of Commerce and Industry, which the brand is affiliated with, and other influential organisations.

The Excel on Steroids client base is an impressive list, which includes Bidvest Bank, Momentum, Rand Merchant Bank and Sappi. The client base is dominated by South Africa-based clients; however, there have been many training requests from organisations in other African countries, one of them being First National Bank of Namibia.

"The whole team said it was the training session they have benefited and enjoyed the most. The team was very impressed with the knowledge of the presenter and requested follow-up training in order to improve their skills. A job well done!" Letitea Strauss, Corporate Manager New Business, Corporate and Commercial Banking, First National Bank of Namibia.

Such responses, and the endless opportunities presented by untapped markets, provide ample reason for the brand to expand its footprint into other African countries. The Sage Alchemex training team is proud to list eight African countries in which it already has its footprint and in which it plans to expand its presence:

* South Africa
* Lesotho
* Swaziland
* Kenya
* Nigeria
* Namibia
* Zambia
* Botswana

"Excel on Steroids has become a recognised brand in South Africa and we are excited about this expansion into Africa. We will be working closely with our sister companies, Softline Pastel, Softline Accpac and Softline VIP, which have developed a strong brand in various African countries," says Sage Alchemex Training Manager, Bronwyn Dorrofield.
