SGT Solutions, one of SA’s leading systems integrators, was announced as the recipient of the Platinum award during Microchip’s Frequency and Timing Systems (FTS) EMEA Channel Partner Conference in March 2021.

A Platinum award is an accolade bestowed to a channel partner for sterling results. “This award is a tremendous honour for SGT Solutions. The Platinum award was based on the company’s significant EMEA revenue contributions for the past year. Additionally, it draws particular attention to the close relationship between SGT and Microchip in enhancing our focus to deliver value to our customers,” highlights Suraj Ramlall, GM at SGT Solutions. The sterling success was derived from solutions with the flagship product TimeProvider 4100.

TimeProvider 4100 is a best-in-class GrandMaster with extensive port fanout for packet-based timing and including legacy ports. TimeProvider 4100 is a family of devices that offers a choice of oscillators, expansion modules and operation modes. Operation modes come with specific capabilities, all based on the same device, which can act as a:

  • Gateway clock;
  • High-performance boundary clock; and
  • Enhanced primary reference time clock (ePRTC).

TimeProvider 4100 expands on three key core capabilities that are necessary for operators of critical infrastructure:

  • Redundancy via a software schema and direct Ethernet connections between two units;
  • Resiliency with new GNSS multiband support as well as a new super OCXO oscillator option for enhanced holdover and timekeeping; and
  • Security via new TACACS+ and RADIUS authentication mechanisms as well as additional anti-jamming and anti-spoofing measures.

During the event, extensive product releases were realised and of paramount focus was the BlueSky technology enhancement.

BlueSky technology now inside SyncServer

The new SyncServer with BlueSky technology detects GPS jamming and spoofing related anomalies in real-time to protect essential time and frequency outputs. When unexpected changes are detected and trust is compromised, alarms are sent and the BlueSky detectors respond to protect the ongoing integrity of the SyncServer’s timing operations.

  • Protection from localised GPS jamming and spoofing;
  • Automatic failover to alternative time sources or holdover on alarm; and
  • Graphical tools for site survey, historical performance and event analysis.

The key driving force for the success was greatly stimulated by consistent attention to elated clients, delivery capabilities in tandem with customer requirements, excellent leverage of Microchips – FTS solutions and services, innovative spirit and determination to thrive in a very troubled time for humanity – the COVID-19 era.

Microchip Technology is a leading provider of smart, connected and secure embedded control solutions.
