IFC and Dialog Telekom PLC have joined forces to help strengthen the business skills of Dialog Telekom's retail distributors in Sri Lanka, says CIOL.

This will help them build a track record of creditworthiness by using the IFC SME Toolkit, an advisory product implemented in more than 25 countries worldwide.

The IFC SME Toolkit leverages the latest information and communication technologies to help SMEs learn and implement sustainable business management practices.

India sets up business incubators

To help spawn new ideas and technologies for the benefit of SMEs, India's government is playing facilitator for setting up a host of incubating centres across the country, says The Economic Times.

The move has been taken by the government as part of its initiative to set up 100 business incubators across the country.

The scheme provides early-stage funding for establishing incubators for innovative products/process to improve efficiency of SMEs and enhance their competitiveness.

SingTel wins tender

Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) is one of the winners of the SME Infocomm Package tender issued by the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) of Singapore, says Hardware Zone.

Under this scheme, eligible SMEs will enjoy special discounts and an IDA grant of up to $1 000 when signing up broadband and Web hosting solutions.

Together with its consortium of partners, SingTel seeks to address the difficulties SMEs face in adopting Infocomm Technologies.
