Success lies in choosing the right accounting software partner for your accounting practice

Johannesburg, 29 Nov 2018

Keeping up with the latest technology can be daunting for any business, from start-ups and small- to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to well-established firms. In the current innovation-driven market, however, it is essential for accounting practices that are looking to grow and remain competitive to invest in solutions that make sense for them.

This is according to Gary Epstein, Managing Director of EasyBiz Technologies, who highlights that optimising accounting processes by implementing technology that makes daily accounting tasks easier and less time-consuming is essential for the new age accounting practice.

"The secret to success lies in choosing the right partner, one with a proven track record in providing leading, functional solutions that enable accounting firms to grow and serve their clients more efficiently and strategically."

Identifying EasyBiz as his favoured local accounting software provider, Franscious Myburgh, owner of Gautax, a practice that focuses on providing comprehensive accounting and tax solutions, highlights that by switching to QuickBooks in 2000, from the company's previous accounting software, his business reduced its bookkeeping time by 80%.

"For a small company, QuickBooks gives you the tools to perform just like a bigger one," says Myburgh.

Epstein adds that, today, Gautax is one of the top QuickBooks partners in the country and continues to evolve with technology, moving both itself and the majority of its clients to the cloud with QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Online Accountant.

"For an accounting firm owner who is personally invested in wanting to see their company grow from strength to strength, you shouldn't settle for anything less than a solution that fits both your needs and your budget, while also setting you up for success with ongoing guidance and support. With EasyBiz being the authorised local partner to the world's leading cloud accounting solutions provider, Intuit QuickBooks, we are able to tick these boxes."

Echoing the sentiment that adopting leading software solutions has the potential to deliver greater success, Louis Aucamp, Owner of the accounting practice, Equality, shares that the firm's drive for service excellence, complemented by its expertise with QuickBooks software, has propelled the company's growth tremendously.

Founded 12 years ago as a one-man accounting practice working with SMEs, today the practice is so much more. Equality now offers multiple professional solutions, including financial, forensic, software sales and training services, to clients across a range of industries.

Epstein explains that Equality is also the authorised QuickBooks Partner in the Free State and Northern Cape, and was the first certified QuickBooks Online Accountant Adviser in South Africa.

Aucamp notes the success of the practice comes down to not only being proficient with the software it uses and promotes, but also understanding the business needs of each client before advising them on how to overcome the challenges they face.

"QuickBooks, of course, plays an integral part too by reducing data capture time, for example. QuickBooks Online allows us to put greater focus on improving reporting processes which, in turn, enables us to prioritise the advice and key insights clients needed when making business-critical decisions. QuickBooks Online is the future," he says.

Epstein notes that success stories like these are evidence that the right partner can elevate a firm to new heights, with another example being Rae & Associates, a local accounting practice, which has been at the forefront of professional business consulting for the past 15 years.

Specialising in accounting software, Rae & Associates offers a range of services, including bookkeeping, payroll outsourcing and specialist financial advice.

For Lauren du Plooy, Manager of Rae & Associates' consulting division, what sets the company apart from its competitors, and something that clients are incredibly grateful for, is that the team not only offers the best software available on the market, but also skills training that empowers clients to become better at running their businesses.

"With QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Online Accountant, this task is made infinitely easier through cloud-accounting software that makes collaboration a breeze. Their industry-leading features have also been designed to reduce admin, so more time can be dedicated to providing clients with key business insights. We recommend QuickBooks Online to every client we see; it's the number one choice," she says.

For Rae & Associates, the impact of QuickBooks Online cannot be denied, with the business tripling its client base over the last four years as customers look to them to transition to the cloud.

In addition, Epstein highlights that, since Rae & Associates published its company profile on the QuickBooks Find an Advisor Directory, which allows clients to search for accounting services, the firm has experienced a notable influx of leads.

"Together with our partners, Intuit, we are committed to being the companion accounting practices know they can trust, delivering only the very best accounting innovation tools and solutions to our accounting and small business partners, so as to further enable their growth and success in the years to come," Epstein concludes.

Now available to new and existing EasyBiz partners, the latest QuickBooks software, QuickBooks 2019, offers users additional features as well as improved functionality to assist them in growing their businesses.

The easiest and most productive QuickBooks solution to date, QuickBooks 2019 includes: a filtering option to include or exclude inactive inventory in reports, as well as a check-to-bill payment window, invoice status tracker, easy upgrade functionality, credit transfer options and enhanced IIF import for greater accuracy.
