ITEC to distribute Konica Minolta brand in southern Africa

Johannesburg, 24 Aug 2004

Following the merge of Konica and Minolta in Japan, the newly formed company Konica Minolta Business Technologies Inc (KMBT) has confirmed the ongoing appointment of Itec South Africa (formerly Konica South Africa) as one of its two distributors for the Konica Minolta brand in southern Africa.

"Itec and Minolco have been very successful distributors for Konica Corporation and Minolta Co Limited in SA over the years and KMBT currently wishes to continue supplying products to both Itec and Minolco. Both distributors will receive similar access to new products and support under the new contract that will be executed by each of the concerned parties," says Ko Hasegawa, General Manager, Overseas Sales Division, Konica Minolta Business Technologies Inc.

Combining the resources, especially the research and development spend of two giants in the document solutions industry translates into an exciting future for the industry. As a result of the merger, separate Konica Minolta branded products are no longer available. The exceptional standard of the Konica Minolta brand currently being manufactured is testimony to the level of quality and innovation that Konica Minolta customers can become accustomed to.

Itec`s reputation as the fastest growing document solutions company in southern Africa supplying imaging technologies, such as multifunctional products, copiers, faxes and printers, is based on the substantial growth they have achieved in the six years since receiving the import and distribution rights to the Konica brand in SA.

Itec currently operates with over 700 staff through an extensive distribution network, which comprises 65 dealerships operating throughout SA and into Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Zimbabwe and Reunion.

"Itec is proud to be able to bring the new Konica Minolta brand to our existing customers and are committed to growing our market share even more substantially with our new product offering," said Jacques Duyver, CEO of Itec.
