Hardy Jonck heads up DVT's Mendix business

Johannesburg, 25 Aug 2011

DVT, one of South Africa's leading software houses, has appointed Hardy Jonck to head its Mendix business unit.

Jonck, who has almost 20 years of software industry experience, ranging from war games development for the South African military to asset management systems for utilities, will be responsible for promoting Mendix's Agile Business Platform and related application life cycle management services.

“The ability to solve business problems far more rapidly while also gaining flexibility and versatility, and the resultant impact on revenue streams, is driving the widespread adoption of agile and model-driven development,” says Jonck. “We're enabling businesses to generate profits on their terms with systems that can be changed as required.”

Mendix's core offering, AppFactory, an Agile Business Platform, helps partners and customers develop, deploy and manage business applications that are easily integrated and adapted in any existing IT and business environment. Concepts such as agile development, model-driven development, rapid prototyping and service-oriented architecture (SOA) are at the heart of the company's roadmap and product philosophy.

Its platform-based approach to agile and scrum ensures consistent and rapid delivery. Traditional software development projects often result in uneven delivery on projects and an unnecessary dependence on scarce and costly skills. Mendix allows customers to move rapidly beyond the waterfall approach and enjoy the many benefits of agile and scrum across a wide range of solutions.

“Hardy is a veteran who understands the industry and can effectively bring agile capabilities to customers,” says Chris Wilkins, CEO of DVT. “Technology evolves to keep pace with business requirements, and agile principles are the next evolution in that process. Hardy's experience as an agile consultant to blue-chip South African businesses before joining DVT ideally positions him to bring a pragmatic approach to rolling it out smoothly and appropriately. And Mendix already has an impressive roster of international blue-chip clientele with, most notably, a referenceable track record.”

Jonck's team will deliver these capabilities from both DVT's Cape Town and Johannesburg offices with pre-sales, sales and engineering competencies.
