Record demand for flexible new conference phone

The Konftel 800 offers a host of innovative features, with a sharp focus on audio quality, ease of use and design.

Johannesburg, 01 Nov 2019

Konftel, a global leader in conference phones and video conferencing equipment, is now launching sales of the Konftel 800. The new conference phone is based on a fresh platform that offers a whole host of innovative features, with a sharp focus on audio quality, ease of use and design. Even before its market launch, the Konftel 800 has received several design awards, and expectations are sky-high among retailers and distributors.

“We’ve been developing conference phones for more than 30 years, but I don’t think we’ve ever satisfied a clear market need as successfully as we have with the Konftel 800,” says Peter Renkel, CEO of Konftel. The market has plainly been crying out for a well-designed and flexible conference phone that can easily grow to fit its context.

According to analyst firm Frost & Sullivan, the company has have gone from having one conference room for every 75 employees to 10 employees per room now, and the forecast is that within five years, there will be a meeting room for every five employees. Konftel is also holding shorter meetings; they take place more often, are more unplanned and involve fewer participants, and staff often want to be able to use video. All this demands the utmost flexibility and simplicity, while never compromising on sound quality. The Konftel 800, and the related Konftel C50800 Hybrid video solution, address these challenges head-on, which has created a huge buzz ahead of the launch.

Opportunities capture the imagination

Konftel’s own tried-and-tested OmniSound audio technology, with full duplex, echo cancellation and noise suppression, has been taken up a level in the Konftel 800, which also comes with new digital microphones. But the factor that has attracted the most interest is the ability to expand the Konftel 800 by adding multiple digital microphones with built-in OmniSound technology: Konftel Smart Microphones. Alternatively, the user can link up three Konftel 800 devices in a daisy-chain to handle a larger room and more participants.

“This unusual versatility, combined with multi-connection, is extremely important in ensuring flexibility and convenience for our customers. We’re seeing meeting rooms and offices, even working practices, change at an incredible pace. So, it’s essential to invest in solutions that can grow and adapt to changing needs and offer a sustainable investment for the long term,” says Torbjörn Karlsson, Product Manager at Konftel.

Start a conference call with one touch

The design is another factor that has fired up interest in the new conference phone. The Konftel 800 has already won a Red Dot Design Award and the 2019 Unified Communications Product of the Year Award from TMC and Internet Telephony Magazine.

A key element of the design is, of course, the user interface on the integral 4.3-inch display, but also the fact that the Konftel 800 can be controlled with ease from the Konftel Unite app. The mobile app gives the user access to all their personal contacts and their calendar for One Touch Conferencing; start or join a pre-booked meeting with just a single touch.

The Konftel 800 also lies at the heart of a new video solution, Konftel C50800 Hybrid, which fully supports Bring Your Own Meeting, where the user brings their collaboration app of choice to the meeting room on their laptop, and plugs it in with a single cable (Konftel One Cable Connection).

The new Konftel 800 conference phone is on sale now and the accompanying video solution will be available during the fourth quarter.
