Telkom Foundation gets new CEO

Johannesburg, 16 Sep 2009

Telkom has appointed former CEO of the Nedbank Foundation, Reabetsoe Motsepe, to head up its corporate social investment arm.

The company says Motsepe will take up her position as CEO immediately, taking over from current acting CEO Prelene Schmidt. Schmidt has acted in the role since 2008.

According to a statement from Telkom, Motsepe was CEO of the Nedbank Foundation for six years, as well as managing Nedbank Group`s PR and communications.

"She spent a significant part of her career in the banking industry before joining Telkom. At Wesbank, for example, she was primarily responsible for product development. Motsepe also drove the BEE Enterprise brand at Peoples Bank and established the corporate social investment division at Nedbank when the latter acquired Peoples Bank."

The company says she has also been employed by Avis, Woolworths and Unilever as a product brand manager.

"I believe Reabetsoe is the ideal person to lead the Telkom Foundation, which was recognised by the 2009 Oliver Empowerment Awards as the country`s top empowerment company in CSI," says Ouma Rasethaba, Telkom`s chief of corporate governance.
