GE unveils CT scan

GE Healthcare chief executive Joe Hogan said the company`s new high-definition CT scan technology could provide major benefits to patients and its business, if approved by federal regulators, reports Houston Chronicle.

GE is presenting the new technology during a conference at the Radiological Society of North America, in Chicago this week.

CT, or computed tomography, machines take pictures of the body from different angles using x-rays. Those images are sent to a computer, which assembles the information to deliver detailed internal pictures. The images are often used to help diagnose cancer and heart disease.
