IBM to smarten up SMEs

Continuous technological upgrading is an indispensable step to achieve higher productivity and cost optimisation, according to Best Syndication.

However, due to the slump in the global economy, investing in new technology is getting difficult for most of the Indian firms, especially those belonging to the cash-starved SME segment.

To address the concerns of SME units in the country, IBM released 'IBM Smart' - an IT solution to assist these players in acquiring, using and managing technology in a cost-effective and efficient manner.

SMEs urged to spend on R&D

“If you build it, they will come,” say guests of the APEC SME Technology Entrepreneur Seminar, according to fibre2fashion.

The economic landscape has incurred some dramatic changes like budget cuts and climate change, and social and demographic shifts pose a new set of challenges.

However, say industry experts, for SMEs that are able to adapt, such changes offer a wealth of opportunities.

SMEs seek IT Park

The IT industry in Uttar Pradesh has urged the government to set up an IT park in the Lucknow Industrial Development Authority, reports Business Standard.

Since SMEs account for over 60% of state industries, the industry wants the IT Park to be dedicated to the sector.

The industry wants simpler registration process for the Software Technology Park of India and subsidy for IT solutions for small, medium and micro enterprises.
